Heroes: Season One
October 3, 2007
My wife and I don’t watch much television, but we’ve enjoyed having one show a week that we can watch together. For the last few years, that show had been Gilmore Girls. When that series ended last spring, we started looking for a replacement. Some friends recommended Heroes, and it seemed like something we would really enjoy.
We got the first season on DVD a few weeks ago. We were consumed with what C.S. Lewis calls “narrative lust” (the passionate desire to see what happens next), and we finished all the episodes this week. We definitely enjoyed the show: it’s based on comic books like X-Men — superheroes with genetic mutations try to save the world from evil villians — but it’s done in a more realistic, less cheesy way. We are now caught up and ready to watch season two as it airs, which just started last week.
