Movies in 2007

My wife and I watched Holiday Inn downtown tonight as part of a new holiday tradition called “Miracle Dallas”. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. I realize many people don’t like old black and white movies or musicals, but this one was definitely worthwhile. The story is entertaining and the singing of Bing Crosby and dancing of Fred Astaire are excellent. The movie was shown outside on a giant screen, which is always a fun way to experience a movie.

After the movie, we lamented at how few movies we have watched this year. We weren’t able to go to the theater with a new baby, and we simply did not make it a priority to rent movies at home. We mostly just made it to the latest action blockbusters (like Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, and National Treasure) when we had family in town, though we also made it to the film adaptation of the award-winning fantasy novel Stardust and to Frank Oz’s latest farce Death at a Funeral.

Perhaps we watched more movies than I remembered.

Even still, we plan to re-activate our Netflix or Blockbuster Online accounts or to experiment with Redbox. Hopefully in 2008 we can catch up on all the good movies we missed from 2007.
